Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.
This week, we received an email from Erin nominating 12-year-old Cash Daniels of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Erin writes:
Dear Kix,
Five years ago, Cash, at the age of seven, heard that the Tennessee River was polluted. He did some research and found out how many people in the area depend on that water to live. So, he started hosting river cleanups.
In four years, Cash has removed 14 thousand pounds of trash. He’s also recycled 1.5 tons of aluminum. He uses the money he’s collected on recycling to make monofilament recycling bins which are placed along the river to reduce the amount of fishing line that entangles animals.
Cash has since started a non-profit to continue his cause and hopes to inspire other kids around the world to do what he does. He has donated over six thousand dollars to river conservation and to me he is a true hero for our waterways and wildlife along the Tennessee River.
Thank you for considering Cash. He is truly changing the world.

Wow! Cash, you are definitely making a difference! And, I have no doubt anyone, regardless of age, is inspired by all that you’ve accomplished on behalf of conservation.
