Dierks Bentley to Release Bluegrass-Driven Album Up on the Ridge

DIERKS BENTLEY dives into the world of bluegrass and acoustic music on his new album, Up on the Ridge, due out this summer. Dierks' fans won't be surprised by the project's rootsy vibe, though. He's often said that if hadn't discovered bluegrass music in college, he'd never have pursued a career in country music.

There's a bluegrass track on every one of Dierks' studio albums, but Up on the Ridge isn't so hardcore bluegrass that casual fans will be turned off.  Says Dierks, "It's my version of bluegrass music. It's not just banjos cranked up to eleven. It throws out a big net."

Dierks has plenty of special guests on Up on the Ridge, including Grammy winners CHRIS THILE, ALISON KRAUSS and the DEL McCOURY BAND, along with MIRANDA LAMBERT. He also tapped into BOB DYLAN's song catalog for one tune in addition to writing the bulk of the material himself. "I wanted each song to have something special about it," Dierks says, "and in the end, I think each song really does have its own thing going on." Up on the Ridge will be Dierks' fifth studio album. He released a Greatest Hits collection in 2008.
